Are u kidding! sunburst is a awesome pageant… here let me add some quotations “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it at all” it sounded more like your ocd with grammar than a complaint about the pageant so it made no sense…”!!”

"The evils of beauty pageants for children" by Amom

My daughter regularly competes in glitz pageants. Her first pageant was a Sunburst , we were in the mall one day and she asked “can I try that too?”. At the state and national level Sunburst is not a natural pageant , there are very few pageants that are natural at the national level. I am not sure where you see this as a scam, you pay , your child competes, your child gets a prize. What seems to be overlooked is that beauty is not the main part of the scoring in these things. This is why beauty pageant for kids pageants is really a bit of a misnomer. The overwhelming majority of the scoring comes from personality and flawless routine execution. The majority of girls do the same exact routine, the judges do know when a mistake is made, this is why coaches are hired. When it does come to natural pageants, I will not take my daughter to such a contest as they are based 99% on facial beauty. Glitz is the great equalizer. The makeup and costuming are simply competition standard. My daughter is eleven now and she still adores this hobby with all of her heart after eight years of competing. My daughter no longer competes in sunburst simply because she says at the higher levels it is not glitzy enough for her, for my daughter more than half the fun of this is the getting dolled up part of pageants that most of the complaints towards the hobby are directed. Before anyone accuses me of living vicariously through my kid and I know some reader is thinking that right now, if my personal dreams were to come true I would like to see Jerry Garcia resurrected and I would like a 68 VW bus and free grateful dead tickets for life thanks. Since that is not going to happen I will keep taking my kid to pageants as long as she loves doing it . My daughter has high functioning autism and in the beginning we were shocked that she even wanted to attempt this hobby and the positives she has gotten out of this hobby far outweigh the negatives.
